The Research On Spare Parts Of Inventory Management For Coal Terminal

Spare parts inventory management at coal terminal is a very important part of the terminal equipment management. In the process of terminal handling production operation, machinery and its spare parts will inevitably be wear and fail in the role of internal and external environment. When the machinery and its parts fail, it is necessary to make timely repair or replacement to enable the machinery to continue to operate normally. In order to timely replace the damaged parts, reduce the downtime, it often requires terminal enterprises to increase the amount of reserves of spare parts, but the growing variety and number of the stevedoring equipment spare parts required for the increasingly high cost of purchasing and warehousing will occupy a lot of liquidity, affect the economic efficiency of enterprises. The research on the reasonable inventory of coal terminal spare parts for the terminal handling production operations has an important significance.First, the background and significance of the topic is expounded, and the research status at home and abroad of the problem is analyzed and generalized. Then the theory of spare parts and inventory management theory are introduced, including the traditional inventory control strategy and the inventory management model under supply chain environment. And then on the basis of analysis of the terminal spare parts demand influencing factors, combined with reliability engineering theory, a coal terminal spare parts demand forecasting method is proposed. Finally, on the basis of theoretical studies above, combined with the actual situation of the Shenhua Tianjin Coal Terminal, the characteristics of the spare parts inventory management and the problems in today’s coal terminal are summed up, and the improvement methods are proposed, too. In the case study, it firstly categorizes the spare parts, then in respect of fast-flowing spare parts which are featured by fast consumption and high annual demand is high, it suggests using quantitative ordering, and as to slowly-flowing spare parts which are featured by discontinuous demand and low consumption, it suggests using discontinuous demand inventory control strategy. In respect of the special slowly-flowing spare parts which are featured by high value, low and random demand and high specificity, this paper also proposes joint managed inventory management in supply chain management, and also investigates the key factors for successful implementation of the management model and the form of management.The application of the spare parts inventory management method proposed by this paper in Shenhua Tianjin Coal Terminal, helps solving the issues in spare parts inventory management, which optimizes the structure of inventory and reduces inventory costs. It proves the scientific rationality of the proposed method, and has a certain practical significance.
