Research On Government Regulation Of Chinese Food Additive Industry

Food security has become the national focus of attention in recent years. Abuseof food additives is flooding in this society, which frequently causes food safetyincidents, such as “lean meat powder of Shuanghui”,“Swelling watermelon”,“beefextract”,“Ajisen Ramen soup blending” and lots of others. Based on this situation,Food additive regulation is imperative now.At present, there are still lots of loopholesin the regulation of the food additive industry in China, and it is the basic reason forsuch a high frequency of food safety incidents in this years. Chinese government,there are many loopholes in the regulation of the food additive industry, leading to thefrequency of the fundamental reasons of food safety incidents in recent years causedby food additives.Based on the theory of social regulation, this paper analyses theproblems of government in the regulation from the perspective of social regulation,and puts forward solutions to this problem. I hope this could be useful in the futurework of the government.There are five parts in this paper. Part one, introduction. This part will introducethe basis of selecting topic and significance of selecting topic, literature review andinnovation, data collection and research methods. Part two, explanations of relatingconcepts and theory. This part will explain the concept of food additives, foodadditives industry, and government regulation. This part also explains the theory ofsocial regulation and the use of social regulation in the food additives industry.Partthree, the problems of food additives industry in Chinese Government Regulation.These problems are mainly focus in access regulation, legal regulation andinformation disclosure.Part four, the reason of these food additive problems ingovernment regulation. Lack of scientific procedures in access standards, lessattention of building effective regulations and fresh building of information disclosuresystem are main reasons. Part five, countermeasures to solve the food additivesindustry problems in Government Regulation. The scientific development of accessstandards, vigorous boost of construction in regulatory standards and acceleration ofinformation construction are the effective countermeasuresThrough documentary research, theoretical research and comparative study, this paper studies the problems in the regulation of food additives industry in China. Fromthe theory of social regulation, this paper finds the problems and the cause of theseproblems, and finally gives solutions to this problem. Food safety relates to thepeople’s livelihood, and food additive is the important factor that causes food safety.The effective regulation of government in the food additives industry affects the entirefood safety situation, and it attracts enough attention. I hope this paper can be benefitto the regulation of food additives industry in China.
