Polarizing Film Reactive Supply Chain System Research And Optimization Design

New Flat Display industry was considered as a very important strategic industry in China, especially the TFT-LCD industry. Polarizer is the important and main material for TFT-LCD manufacture; it takes about20%cost of the TFT-LCD module. But the polarizer’s research and manufacture are monopolized by Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese companies in a long term. For keeping their technology advantage, they separate the polarizer manufacture into two parts:pre-manufacture and post-manufacture. This manufacture situation causes several problems:more manufacture nodes, long processing time, high logistics cost and cannot react to the customers’sudden request. And the crucial material which is for making polarizer is monopolized by only one Japanese company——F company, it cause the traditional supply chain management method cannot match the polarizer industry request. The whole polarizer industry and even TFT-LCD industry is facing to a big challenge.The author works in LGC, a Korean polarizer manufacturer many years. Base on the long term working experience, LGC supply chain feature, and the polarizer industry trends, the author analyzed the polarizer industry feature, and the supply chain request. The author also set up and optimized the polarizer responsive supply chain management system, including the system structure, basic function. Furthermore the author reengineered the process of the polarizer logistics, and point out the polarizer manufacturer has to share the information to the customer and the same as well as the customers.Finally, the author used this polarizer responsive supply chain management system in the CSOT project, which is a very famous TFT-LCD customer, and at last received an excellent result.This article research provides the possible responsive supply chain management solution not only to the polarizer industry but also to the TFT-LCD industry.
