Optimization of logistics systems is a core task of the modern logistic industry, a decisivefactor of operating performance and a fundamental guarantee of cost minimizing. Whether thelogistic system design is reasonable, plays a great impact on every logistics facility’s overallperformance. Thus reasonable logistics system design can significantly reduce the operatingcosts and improve the system’s operating efficiency.Relied on existing research on logistic system design, a system model based onsimulation technology was proposed according to the unique characteristics of logistic systemdesign in assembly production in this paper. Relevant models were built by simulationsoftware called AnyLogic due to different candidate solutions and the best solution wasselected according to the results outputted by simulation which provides a more scientific andeffective method of solving this kind of problem.Furthermore, a more effective solution based on simulation optimization technology wasintroduced for this problem in the paper. By integrating the simulation platform, an automaticoptimization system driven by genetic algorithm was developed to overcome thedisadvantages in simulation-based solution, such as inappropriate initial candidate designs, incompetence in solving multi non-linear factors problem and etc. This method provides anew method which greatly improves the quality of the final solution and the possibility offinding the optimal solution. Finally, a specific real case in manufacturing enterprise was solved in both two methodsand the results are carefully analyzed and compared which is convincing proof of the validityof proposed solutions in this paper. The method not only provides a satisfied solution to thelogistic system design problem but also provides a new inspiring direction to research on thesimilar fields in the future in some possibilities.
