The number of elevators in our country grows rapidly with the fast developmentof social economy and the acceleration of urbanization. As an important means oftransport in modern buildings, elevators provide people with convenience butmeanwhile cause many accidents problems. The elevator management departmentpays much attention to the safety of elevators due to the frequent accidents which willsurely become the focus of media. However, at present, there are still manydeficiencies in the management of elevator safety, and thus the safety of elevatorconditions is far from optimism. The disputes arising from the elevator accidents havealso become unstable factors which have a great influence on the social stability.By introducing the current situation of the elevator safety management researchat home and abroad, this thesis summarizes the general situation of elevator safetymanagement in our country, and reviews the obligations that the elevator managementagency should take for. According to the analytical methods of safety accidents, themanned (goods) elevator accidents have been analyzed qualitatively using the faulttree analysis method, and the escalators and sidewalks accidents have been alsoanalyzed by taking the typical accident as example. And then it points out that somemain problems in our elevator safety management through the analysis of sometypical cases in our country, for example, unclear responsibilities, safetyunconsciousness, the hidden problems in the design, manufacture, installation andmaintenance of the elevators, and the difficulty in sharing the cost of operating andmaintaining the elevators, all of which seriously impact the safe operation of theelevators. In the end of the thesis, it puts forward some ways to solve this problemfrom five aspects: improving relevant laws and regulations, strengthening supervisionand management, promoting the development of the market-oriented elevatorinspection agency, constructing the emergency response system and improvingpersonnel quality which will provide references for the future development of theelevator safety management.
