About150years ago, chain operation was started in the United States, Japan anddeveloped countries in Europe and has become widely accepted. Since the early1990s, although China has made certain achievements in chain operation, itsdevelopment, operation and management is not standardized. Therefore, how tooperate and manage the chain enterprises according to local conditions and situationshas become a subject for discussion.In the literature on the current situation of the domestic and international chainoperation, the author finds out that the domestic and foreign scholars paid littleattention to how to give full play to the existing advantages of chain operation, thereis a lack of the thorough study on chain enterprises in specific areas or industries. Byanalyzing the development process, current situation, existing problems andopportunities of Quanzhou’s chain enterprises, the thesis puts forward the followingsuggestions: Quanzhou’s chain enterprises, with private economy being the mainbody, should grasp the new opportunities for development; in addition, chainenterprises’ development level should be improved by expanding their industry scale.Great attention should be paid to modern circulation technology and development ofrural chain markets, introduction and training of chain operation talents, applicationof supportive policies. Only in this way can Quanzhou’s chain operators betransformed, upgraded and standardized in the "second pioneering". The thesis alsoanalyzes the development trend of the Quanzhou’s chain enterprises according toQuanzhou’s unique characteristics. Finally, the paper makes an in-depth analysis ofthe success stories on foreign chain giant KFC’s chain operation development inChina. Based on detailed analysis and experience summarizing of KFC’s preparatorywork in China and its franchise business model of “Do not start from scratch”, theauthor proposes that it is worthwhile encouraging Quanzhou’s chain enterprises tolearn from KFC in sitting, scale expansion, standardization of management, thespread of Chinese localization and differentiation strategies, development and creation of new products, supply chain assurance and logistics and distribution, thefull range of multi-level human resources, application of modern IT technology, so asto gain improvements in its core competitiveness.
