Mitten crab is a kind of economic crab, which is widely distributed in China.Among them, the Yangtze River’s crab is the best. In recent years, crab productionmethods from fishing change into breeding. Crab artificial breeding technologybreakthroughs make crab aquaculture production has grown rapidly in China. In recentyears, the import and export trade of crabs has also developed rapidly. In2008, in asingle species of freshwater fisheries crab had become the second largest industry ofChina. The government and related departments attaches great importance to the crabaquaculture industry, crab has been listed as the one of ten key industries by Ministry ofAgriculture. The ministry of civil affairs has in2004approved the establishment of theChinese fishery association crab branch; it can help the healthy development of crabaquaculture.Jiangsu Province is located in the Yangtze River Delta, water resources andbiological resources, location and natural climate are the rapid development of crabaquaculture conditions. Crab has been listed as the one of2009-2012Jiangsuaquaculture ten dominant species by Jiangsu Province.2009crab in Jiangsu provincebreeding output is18.1billion Yuan. Crab output accounted for15.5%of the totaloutput value of fisheries in Jiangsu province, and50.03%of the total output of crab inChina; crab became an important source of fishermen’s income. Jiangsu province isChina’s crab export and Crab nursery important Region. Jiangsu province in makingquality standards and brand development are also very good.Analysis of the competitiveness of crab aquaculture in Jiangsu Province, I haveselected15provinces, municipalities as samples to be analyzed. Their production ofcrab accounted for99.55%of the country’s total crab production in2009; they havebasically covered the main areas of crab aquaculture in China. Firstly, I buildcompetitiveness evaluation index system; using TOPSIS Model and Factor Analysis forquantitative analysis. Entropy Method is applied to determining the weight coefficientsin TOPSIS Model, and compares the results of two methods. Factor Analysis is used tomake up the defects of TOPSIS Model.From the results of two methods we can see, the competitiveness of crabaquaculture in Jiangsu Province is the first position in15provinces and municipalities.Factor of Jiangsu Province’s production capacity is the core competitiveness. At last,this paper provide some suggestion in enhance competitiveness of crab aquaculture inJiangsu Province. Include protection and management of germplasm resources;development of crab processing industry; play the role of government and industryassociations; brand building and quality control; focus on crab seed production;publicity crab culture and promotion of crab products; promotion of crab aquaculturetechniques and establishment of fishery technology sector.Research of competitiveness of crab aquaculture in Jiangsu province not only canhelp us understand competitiveness of crab aquaculture in Jiangsu province but also canhelp us understand the other areas competitiveness of crab aquaculture of China is themeaning of this thesis. The research of competitiveness of crab aquaculture in Jiangsu province can be learned by other provinces.Competitiveness of crab aquaculture based on factor analysis and TOPSIS modelfor the first time is the innovation of this thesis. The competitiveness of crabaquaculture in both Jiangsu Province and other14areas was known by analyzing thecompetitiveness of crab aquaculture. Make up the blank of this research area.
