Global warming is one of the most serious challenge we are facing today, Chinaas the biggest greenhouse gas emissions country of the world has caused widespreadconcern of the international community. Our country is taking active attitude to copewith global climate change, not only participate in the negotiation of internationalclimate agreement actively, but also reduce greenhouse gas emissions within thescope of our best effort. With the low carbon economy as the main developing trendof the world economy, what impacts will the ever fast-growing export bring onChina’s transition to low carbon mode of economic growth featuring clearly setcarbon emission reduction targets?under this background, this paper will study thetransformation of China’s export trade. In the recent years, the issue of carbonemissions embodied in the export trade and also the export trade’s continuinggrowing have been great challenge for our energy reduction and low-carboneconomy development. So,it is necessary and significant to optimize the exportstructure and achieve the transformation of the export trade.Firstly, this paper summarizes the research results home and abroad, relevantconcepts and theories of low-carbon economy, thus provides a theoretical frameworkfor the writing of this article. The second chapter introduces China’s current CO2andenergy development status, and analyzes China’s export trade current situation fromthe four aspects: the trade size, trade structure, the international division of labor, and trade flows.China has become the largest greenhouse gases emitter of the worldand has caused widespread concern of the international community.Clarify thenecessary for the transformation of China’s export trade iin the background oflow-carbon economy. The third chapter study the Correlation relationship between China’s export trade and CO2emissions From the overall horizons.By adopting thecorrelation coefficient test, Granger causality test analysis to verify the results ofqualitative analysis; Then the paper employs the the classical EKC curve, using thedata about China’s GDP, carbon emissions and export from1990to2009, to buildup an econometric model. Then the factor of export is introduced into the CO2-GDPKuznets curve to explore the impacts of export on carbon emissions. The findings are:The CO2-GDP-export Kuznets curve was in U shape. Introduction of Export into themodel postponed and push up the lowest point of carbon emissions. The growth ofexport will lead to the increase of carbon emissions in China. The fourth chapterspecifically ealcuhtes the amount of embodied carbon in export commodities of eaehindustry in the year of1997,2002and2007based on input-output analys, analysis ofthe growth of carbon emissions as well as China’s export trade structure, concludedthat: the high-carbon industry accounted for a high proportion of China’s exports, andthe continued huge trade surplus are the important factors leading to the growth ofChina’s carbon emissions. Our current export trade mode as well as the structure doesnot meet the requirements for the development of low-carbon economy, taking theemission reduction targets and responsibilities into account, we should activelydevelop a low carbon economy, realize the low-carbon transition of our export trade, establish compatible trade mode with the development of low-carbon economy. Finally, this paper proposed the transformation idea of China’s export trade inthe background of low-carbon economy, from the following five aspects:theoptimization of trade structure, the upgrading of processing trade, the extension ofemerging markets, the reduction of trade dependence, the innovation of Low-carbonand energy technology. And these will be great practical significance for our betterand faster development of low-carbon economy.
