With the arrival of the globalization of the low-carbon economy, It becomes anincreasingly important problem that how to reduce carbon emissions during theeconomic development for the most of countries. As to know the overview of thecarbon emissions and the embodied carbon of trade in Guangdong Province, thearticle will use the emissions coefficient method to estimate the total carbon emissionsand emissions intensity from1990to2010and use the input-output method tocalculate the embodied carbon in export and import trade. And then the stagecharacteristics and industrial characteristics were analyzed to build a macrounderstanding of the status of the carbon emissions in Guangdong Province. On thisbasis, we will combine the Kaya equation with the LMDI decomposition method toanalyze many factors such as technical factors, structural factors, scale factors, energyfactors from three perspectives. For the actual situation that Guangdong province is amajor area on foreign trade, the paper will mainly use the sub-industry analysismethod to estimate the contribution of the trade size, structure and technical factors onthe embodied carbon in its import and export trade. Finally, on the basis of the abovetheoretical and empirical analysis, the conclusion of this study and some targetedpolicy enlightenment will be obtained, so as to provide decision-making reference onthe carbon emission reduction work in Guangdong Province during the twelfth-fiveyear.
