Public transportation scheduling planning is the important link of the urban comprehensive treatment, and it’s a necessary process to realize the construction of modern cities. And making a scientific and reasonable bus start plan is the core of the scheduling planning work. On one hand, the bus management personnels lack the scientific and effective methods mostly and make bus start plans based on their experience traditionally. On the other hand, it’s difficult to solve the complex and dynamic scheduling optimization problems of public transport by the optimization algorithm. The computer simulation technology development is an effective method to solve this kind of uncertainty. This paper is proposed to study the bus system optimization problems in this context and it will try to use simulation method to analyze and solve this problem.This paper reviews and summarizes the knowledge of the bus start plan and the present research situation at first. On this basis, the bus operating system of a single line is taken as the research object. And the paper will establish the concept model by simplifying the complex system, and then use ExtendSim simulation software to design and build the simulation optimization model. At last, it will take an example to prove that the bus simulation model is feasible and efficient. Then it will solve the optimization problems of public transport by analyzing the simulation data.This research is meaningful and valuable, and it can provide some support to make out a plan for the bus scheduling management staff.
