With the form of economic globalization continued to heat up, the rapiddevelopment of economic in China, and the status of the tertiary industry gradually rise,people’s pursuit of high-quality life is getting more and more intense, the governmentand the academic circles pay more and more close attention to the development ofcatering industry, the market and regional tendency brought by economic globalizationinevitably makes the restaurant industry more and more valued by the localgovernments. This paper selects catering industry of Chongqing City as the researchobject, combined with the competition theory, the theory of consumption as well as thecatering industry related theoretical knowledge, drawing lessons from Potter’s diamondmodel, IMD international competitiveness evaluation model, statistics directly--indirect competitiveness model and powers system model, to discusses the relatedinfluence factors of the catering industry competitiveness, and construct cateringindustry competitive analysis model, select indexs which may show the demandcondition, the related industry and the factors of production such as per capita GDP, percapita disposable income, the proportion of urban residents, the tertiary industry in GDP,food gross value of industrial output, total retail sales of catering industry, cateringindustry employees, the number of catering outlets and accommodation industryturnover, foreign exchange earnings from tourism and others in all28indexes, by meansof the AHP carries on the weights, standardize the index, and combined with thestandardization of index data, using comprehensive analysis method to analyse andevaluate the competitiveness of catering industry in Chongqing, Beijing, Tianjin andShanghai four municipalities directly.
