Since reform and opening up, the smooth development of market-orientedeconomy in China was largely due to the development of private enterprises, whosehealthy growth is of great significance to maintain the state. Family business’ averagelife is24years, however, the life become much shorter in china. Therefore, familybusinesses’ growth is a very valuable research topic.As shown by existing literatures, network relationship not only is a great benefitfor family business to reduce risks and uncertainties, constraint opportunism behaviorsand lower transaction costs, but also is a valuable resources and ability mechanisms. Ithas access for its members to more likely attain all kinds of heterogeneity resources,such as finance resources, human resources, management skills, information andknowledge resources etc, which are helpful to business growth. But the existingliteratures on family business network and the growth of family business mainly payattention to interpersonal relationship network’s influence on family businesses, withoutfurther research network “how, what degree, which ways work”. There is a serious lackof rich survey data on the basis of systematic empirical research, especially inlandChongqing.Based on these, the paper brings up the academic proposition: networkstructure-network competitive advantage-family business growth, and through it, thepaper focuses on analyzing the intrinsic relationship and mechanism among networkstructure, network competitive advantage and family business growth. This study useslogic deduction based on the established family business theory. At the same time, usingthe Chongqing City family business survey data, this paper analyzes deeply the intrinsicrelationship and mechanism among network structure, network competitive advantageand family business growth through factor analysis. The main conclusions include:Firstly, family business can obtain network competitive advantage by cooperating withother enterprises or institutions. Secondly, the family business network structure has adirect effect on family business growth. Thirdly, in particular, the network structureshave indirect effects on family business growth by network competitive advantage. Theinclusions intend to provide certain theory guidance for China’s private businesses’network growth, especially the inland ones. And it also will provide advices ofdecision-making for our government to promote the growth of the family business.
