It is so long history for the refining copper. In our country, it was the first time to be used as the red copper from nature in Xia dynasty, which symbolized the beginning of copper history. In the Spring and Autumn Period, people put the tin into the copper to smelt,and then made the bronze, this period was called the Bronze Period. From thel7th century, along with the appearance of modern smelting technology, and copper output began to be increased. Copper history is accompanied by the history of human civilization progress to grow.Chinese copper industry has experienced for sixty years development, the scale and the technology have changed so much, the major copper enterprises march for the group, the scale and the resource.The competition among the enterprises is not only the price competition,but also the management and the culture. And now, the copper in China national economy is playing the more and more important role, and it is getting more and more attention and favor as a beneficial to the people’s livelihood industry.However, China copper industry faces with many problems, such as, the contradiction of resources shortage and soaring demand, environment pollution and economic growth in contradiction, disorderly competition and sustainable development in contradiction, the contradiction of foreign resources controlled and domestic enterprises for their own array.This paper on the development of China’s copper enterprises as well as the current situation will be analysed to Zhangjiagang United Copper Co., Ltd. for subjects, theoretical context, study how the copper smelting enterprises in China under the new situation, select the right strategic management of their own development goals, to ensure effective control in order to gain and maintain long-term competitive advantage.The article is divided into five parts, the first part describes the background, meanings, methods and other related content; Part II describes the strategic management of meaning and content of the basic theoretical knowledge and competitive strategy; Part III on the analysis of the present situation of copper smelting enterprises in China and analysis of United copper industries limited external and internal environment of Zhangjiagang, including:analysis of internal environment and external environment analysis, multiple environment; Part IV is on the basis of analysis and evaluation, combined with the strategic goals of the company system, and choice the competitive strategies for Zhangjiagang United Copper Co., Ltd.; Part v, mainly introduce the implementation of the competitive strategy of Zhangjiagang United Copper Co., Ltd.Characteristics and innovations of this article is to integrate the theories and realities of enterprise strategic management, comprehensive analysis of the enterprise environment, corresponding scheme to strategic management,only as reference for China’s laws provide for the sustainable development of copper smelting enterprises.
