Research On New Period Pseudoscience Under Marxist Philosophy Vision

It is generally accepted that pseudoscience is a term first appeared in1843,which is froma Greek root pseudo and a Latin root scientia. Pseudo and scientia’s counterparts of Englishare false and science. The prevalence of western pseudoscience originated from thespiritualism and necromantism of North America in the early nineteenth century. In the latenineteenth century, pseudoscience has prevailed in the western countries.Both science and pseudoscience have no national boundaries. Pseudoscience hasimperiled not only the western countries but also China for over one hundred years. SinceChina adopted reform and opening-up policy in the late1970s, with the planned economy tothe market economy, the pseudoscience forms and the major characteristics have undergonesignificant changes. With the advent of the new millennium, especially in the last century theChinese government has banned Falungong,which was China’s largest pseudoscience,China’s pseudoscience is constantly upgrading and changing, still continues to harm thehealth of Chinese and social harmonious development.It is different from the previous researches on pseudoscience,which are mostly based onthe comprehensive study of the general historical period,the research of this paper focuses inthe period which is from reform and opening-up to now.This paper, first through the objective description of new period of the historicalevolution of pseudoscience, analyzes the present situation of the study and dilemmas ofpseudoscience definition, and with the new theory thinking, tentatively put forward the newdefinition theory that is guided by marxist philosophy of the three theory standards--the truthstandard, the productivity standard and people foremost standard to define new periodpseudoscience, and then it researches the form, the characteristics and the nature ofpseudoscience and the harm and prevention measures. This paper promotes the scientificspirit of uprightness, criticize ruthlessly the new period pseudoscience, through dialecticalmaterialism and historical materialism theoretical thinking, trying to contribute to China’scurrent social science popularization and development of science and technology.
