The purpose of enterprise reengineering is to create value better and enhance the advantages of competition. The subject of this thesis is how to build a framework for theoretical analysis, so that we can combine the enterprise reengineering with the value creation organically, also change enterprise reengineering from management trend type to management performance type.Based on the criticism against traditional theory for division of labor, Michael Hammer’s theory of enterprise reengineering, which stresses that the change brought by attention to client’s economic, advocates that enterprise should implement the organizing on the basis of processes instead of functions, has very important theoretical value. But this theory doesn’t regard business reengineering as the premises of the process reengineering clearly, and ignores some contents about organization reengineering, such as the effective compatibility between function management and process management, and coordination among multi-project processes. On the base of comprehensive review for three-level theories concerned with value chains, general theory, strategic management and operations management, this thesis issues a point of view, that is," value chain reengineering is a kind of analysis framework for enterprise reengineering":(1) Enterprise is a piece of open value chain, the intention of its presence is to create value; the essence of products and service is providing programs for problem-solving; competitions are not between single enterprises, also not between products and service, but between value chains, between solving programs.(2) A series of value chains, from suppliers, manufacturers, dealers to final consumers, consist of value system or value network.(3) On the logic of "target—positioning—fit", put Michael E.Porter’s five forces analysis model, three basic strategies and theory of value chain together as a framework; while get one of the five forces, three basic strategies, activities and technologies concerned with value chain, and analyze it with the tool of "target—tositioning—fit", all of these can constitute a multi-level framework of value analysis.(4) Value chain reengineering includes three links:value discovery, value location and value realization, which correspond enterprise business reengineering, process reengineering and organization reengineering respectively. Among them, business reengineering includes business options, business development and business reconstruction; process reengineering includes process analysis, process location and process design; organization reengineering includes matrix management, network organization and intelligent enterprise. On the framework of value chain reengineering, this thesis reanalyzes and recognizes some reengineering cases, such as IBM, Luenthai Group, Lifung Group, and also directionally discusses the reform and development of CNR.
