Enterprises possess huge capital and employ a large workforce. They design and develop various necessities in life and provide them to society. In any country, enterprises undoubtedly play an indispensable role and exert strong impact on life. Consequently, the enterprises’perception and identification with their respective social responsibility are the decisive factors for their performance.Since the20th century, with the promotion of large-scale industrial transformation and economic globalization, enterprise, as the main body of social economy, is of great significance to a nation and even the whole world’s sustainable development.Accordingly, as a fundamental part of modern market-oriented economy and modern society, the social responsibility of enterprises has drawn more and more attention from all levels of society and all over the world.With China becoming the world’s factory and continuous investments being put from multinational companies, China’s economy has maintained a nearly10percent GDP growth rate over the past three decades since the reform and opening-up. During that period, many private enterprises of China grow out of nothing and develop from small to large. At the beginning, they just seek solution to their livelihood, and gradually complete a primitive accumulation, and later have a considerable size and strength. In short, they experience a start-up, growth and maturity. Accordingly, these enterprises also undergo a transition from paying individual debt to shouldering social responsibilities. Some responsible and aspiring private entrepreneurs have been aware of the importance of recognizing and fulfilling social responsibilities. However, as for responsibility consciousness, private entrepreneurs in general still have a long way to go. Therefore, it is essential to analyze the present situation of private entrepreneurs’social responsibility, and proposes corresponding suggestions under the guidance of advanced social responsibility theory. Only by doing so can we drive private entrepreneurs to take their social responsibilities, and promote the harmonious development of enterprises and society.
