Econo Hotel Chain Performance Evaluation Research

In recent years, with the rapid development of China’s tourism, Econo Hotel also has a broad market.Its development is like bamboo shoots after a spring rain. Econo Hotel suits China’s quantities of tourists.It mainly provides service of accommodation but catering or entertainment just for cut down large expenses. With the price advantagement and quality service, Econo Hotel access to the vast number of businessmen and visitors of the low-end market. However, Econo Hotel chain has some problems in the development process.They affect the performance of the hotels. For example,some Econo Hotel’s expansion mode is incorrect. Recently, some Econo Hotel has towels sanitary problems. If Econo Hotel wants to gain more profit and has a strong development potential, it has to implete the performance appraisal and assessment for helping the management to manage the hotel acheively.Therefore, to design a set of suitable performance evaluation system is necessary indeed.This paper makes the Econo Hotel chain performance evaluation research with the background. And the aim of this paper is to provide reference to investors, managers and other people.The main research methods which it uses are the comparative research method,the qualitative and quantitative analysis method, the fuzzy mathematics method,the literature survey method.Generally the performance evaluation methods include the MBO,the KPI,the BSC,the EVA, the360°Feed back.This paper refers to some research of the hotel performance evaluation system and finally uses the BSC.The BSC can help us make the evaluation dimensions of the indexes.Then the following step is to make the Econo Hotel chain performance evaluation system research.Firstly, this paper introduces Econo Hotel’s concept,development and the present situation.Then it sets the performance evaluation research target and understands the general process of building the performance evaluation system. Then it uses the BSC, the analytic hierarchy process and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to complete the performance evaluation system research.After that, it selects seven listed Econo Hotels(Home Inn,7Days Inn, Jinjiang inn, Express inn, CYTS Shanshui Trends inn,Huatian inn,Wanhaowanjia inn) to construct their performance evaluation system (with Home Inn as the main example).Firstly,it makes the dimensions of the index:financial index, customer index, internal business process index,learning and growth index by the BSC.And then be based on the questionnaire results, it makes the whole indexes.Then it uses AHP to calculate the weight of every index.In addition,It puts the questionnaire data into the system to make the single factor evaluation and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation by the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.Finally it makes the performance levels and scores and then rank the hotels.According to the analysis of the evaluation results,it draws lessons from the well performance hotels and gives some recommendations to the poor performance hotels for upgrading their performances. Recommendations are related to expansion, brand, cost control, differentiation, market segmentation,IT, customer, talent.
