As we all know, higher vocational colleges is an important base for training tourism industry practitioners, so the scientific and reasonable curriculum can not only help to achieve the objectives in talent cultivation, but also promote the improvement and development of vocational education. In the30years of development, higher vocational colleges gain great support from national policy of funds and technology. With the improvement of living standard, tourism industry develops very fast and higher vocational colleges also cause wide attention in society. However, during the process of development, it will inevitably encounter unreasonable phenomenon and some factors hindering its existence. Based on curriculum and its relevant theory, this paper dwells on the principle that the curriculum of tourism management should obey---competency-based target orientation, social need-oriented course setting and diverse and flexible course structure, with reference to the characteristics of tourism management in vocational colleges. Moreover, the present study analyses the objectives of cultivating tourism professionals and expounds the basis and principle of curriculum in ideal state.After clarifying the goals of the curriculum of tourism management and investigating the curriculum of tourism management in five vocational colleges, this paper reveals some problems of the curriculum, that is,"academic" and "assimilating" curriculum goals, the un-equalization of course types and unrealistic course content.On the basis of the above-mentioned study, this paper puts forward the ideal strategy for Tourism Management Curriculum in Chinese vocational colleges. Besides, according to the reality of the construction of vocational colleges in China and the investigation of the graduates and the staff pertinent to vocational college curriculum, the present study repositions the objectives of cultivating tourism professionals and proposes some constructive suggestions on curriculum modules of vocational colleges. For example, the effective curriculum should include compound ability-based target orientation, the optimized and adaptive course structure, integrated and modular course content and practical principle.
