In contemporary times, as the supply chain management is being paid more and more attention, the relationship of business-to-business has changed from pure competition into a more cooperative one, in order to accommodate with the transformation of the manufacture mode. Enterprises are making efforts to develop and promote the cooperative and coordinated relationship in this competitive environment, and it is wise to build closer relationship with their suppliers. As the most crucial part in the supply chain, the importance of suppliers has been more and more significant, and the supplier management is being taken seriously in the whole world. The S company is a subordinate of Sinopec, and its main business is to explore and extract the petroleum and produce relative chemicals. In this industry, the purchasing target goods and materials are always diversified and on a large scale, while the quality is required to be of high standard. Therefore, in the supply chain management environment, to establish a comprehensive supplier evaluation system based on the company’s own conditions is very important.At the beginning the thesis introduces the background of research, presents the research target, that is how to operate the supplier management in S company. Then the relative theories are demonstrated, including the concept and content of supplier management, the classification of suppliers, the indicators used in the supplier evaluating system and the method used to build the system. After that, the thesis finds the existing problems in the daily procuring management of S company, and seeks out the origin of this imperfection. In this process the author summarizes that the disorder in supplier management is most responsible for the existing problems. Based on the company’s conditions, the author proposes to establish an evaluating system for some specific kinds of suppliers, based on the suppliers category and different purchasing strategies. From the comparison of some frequently-used methods, this thesis adopts the AHP model, combined with factor analysis method. Consequently through statistics collecting and disposing, the evaluating system is accomplished and put into practical use. The new supplier management strategy based on this system has obtained some satisfying results.
