Research On The Development Of Strategic Emerging Industries Of Hefei

The impact the financial crisis in2008has created is universal. Each economy of the world has been affected is working on how to get themselves out of the predicament. The answer to this question might be strategic emerging industries (SEI). Each government places much emphasis on the cultivation and development of the strategic emerging industries, so does China. In November,2009, Premier Wenjiabao first used the term of Strategic emerging industries officially. One year later, the State Council issued an announcement of speeding up the cultivation and developments of SEI, making it clear that energy-saving and environment-protecting industry, the new generation of information technology, biotechnology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, and new energy vehicles will be the seven SEIs in China. It is of great significance to develop strategic emerging industries, which will help to propel the industrial optimization and enhance comprehensive power of our country.For years, the economic capacity of Hefei city has gained much, especially from grand construction since2006, which can be seen from economic indicators. However, there are still some problems and a distance from other developed regions in the Yangtze River Delta. Small total economic output, unreasonable industrial structure and tense relationship between the population and resources, environment and economic development have hindered the development of Hefei. As the capital city of Anhui province, Hefei plays an important role in the rise of Anhui in the mid China and will promote the economic development of Anhui. SEI will be a good choice for Hefei to realize economic rise.This study deals with the strategic industry of Hefei, making an analysis of the development of the SEI of Hefei. First, the paper makes a summary of previous studies in this field and defines SEI and its natures, and lists eight SEIs for Hefei according to the national policy combined with the situation of Anhui and the planning of Hefei itself. They are electronic information industry, new energy industry, new energy automotive industry, new materials, energy-saving and environmental-protecting industry, high-end equipment manufacturing industry, bio-pharmaceutical industry, public safety industry. Second, based on the analysis of the conditions for Hefei to develop SEI and its significance, Hefei has the advantage by nature. Then, the paper discusses the possibility of SEI becoming leading industry and concludes that the development of SEI will be a leading force that promotes economy, but has a long way to go. In the end, there are some suggestions for the development of SEI.
