Outdoor sports were introduced into China in the early1980s. The developmentof outdoor sports in China is rapid regardless of its short history. Meanwhile, variousproblems arise along with its development. This thesis is an empirical study ofoutdoor clubs. Operating performances of outdoor clubs from three regions indifferent periods are analyzed. Based on numerous literatures on outdoor sports andenterprise operating performance and taking into consideration the particularity ofoutdoor sport, this thesis aims at establishing an evaluation system of outdoor sportsclub’s performance index suitable for China. SPSS and EXCEL are used inanalyzing questionnaires and interviews of experts to get the financial indexes andnon-financial indexes of the three outdoor clubs studied. The results are as follow:The comprehensive index of yuanfeiniao outdoor sports club in Beijing is70.3419. According to the division in this thesis, the performance of this club is ingrowth. Weight value of its financial index is larger than other indexes indicating ahealthy financial position, which fits the standards of a growth enterprise; and innon-financial indexes, indexes of coaches and innovation are relatively high,indicating that this is a customer-oriented club with rich and circumspect content andtraining of outdoor sports skills, as well as with scientific and effective management.The comprehensive index of jianye outdoor sports club in Qingdao is60.5926.This is also a club in growth. The result shows that the club is able to operate inaccordance with established standards and has well management system. Analyses ofdata show that there are hidden dangers in the club’s solvency and asset operationsregardless of its sound financial position. The evaluation indexes of customersatisfaction and operation status are low among non-financial indexes, indicating thelack of innovation.The comprehensive index of tuobu outdoor sports club is51.7735. It is aperformance hovering enterprise. Analyses show that the performance of the clubhas started, and is gradually moving towards formality with relatively clearmanagement ideas. But its management ideas have not yet been put into practice. Analyses of the data found no scientific and rational planning and managing in tuobuoutdoor sports club. Its investment in learning and innovation is especiallyinadequate.In order to effectively solve these problems, attention should be paid to the roleof the manager, to improve trainer’s quality by training coaches and staff regularly,to improve customer satisfaction from three aspects: enhancing customer awareness,identifying and meeting customer needs. Implementation of these measures cansteadily improve operating performance and realize healthy, sustainable and stabledevelopment of outdoor sports clubs in China.
