SMEs have made significant contributions to China’s economic and socialdevelopment. They have actively participated in and helped to promote China’sreform and opening up process; protected and improved people’s livelihood;stimulated the advancement of technology. The SMEs have become an importantfactor of economic and social development in China. However the development ofSMEs faces many challenges and problems such as the rising production andoperation cost, lacking of proper implementation of state policies and generally lowquality of the enterprises. In response to the above mentioned issues, scholars fromvarious countries began to realize the importance of organizational learning anddynamic capabilities. These two factors are valued in improving entrepreneurialperformance, promoting enterprise development and enhancing business growingpotential. There are plenty of academic studies on the relationship between two of thefactors however, only few models included all the three factors together. Furthermore,no domestic empirical research has been done to SMEs in Jilin Province on thisparticular topic. Organizational learning, dynamic capabilities and entrepreneurialperformance have important strategic significance for SMEs to overcome thedevelopment dilemma. The following aspects are discussed in this thesis.Firstly, this thesis reviewed the researches on entrepreneurship, organizationallearning, dynamic capabilities and entrepreneurial performance. Previous researchesare studied for better understanding of the theoretical basis and the connotation of thefactors.Secondly, various variables, dimensions and the correlation between organizational learning, dynamic capabilities, and entrepreneurial performance areanalysed. The correlation between two variables and their respective sub-dimensionsare analysed when dealing with each one of the factors. In addition, the intermediaryrole of organizational learning, dynamic capabilities, and entrepreneurial performanceis also discussed. Together with the research framework of this thesis, four mainassumptions and fourteen sub assumptions are made based on the above mentionedtheoretical reviews.Thirdly, the research methodology is introduced. Prior to distribution of theformal questionnaires, a small sample test was carried out with36questionnairescollected earlier. Questions that failed to pass the test of reliability and validity wereremoved. During the survey, questionnaires were distributed to the respondents andcollected on site. The target respondents of the survey were middle and seniormanager of SMEs and MBA and EMBA research students in Jilin University. The rateof valid responds was improved significantly through face to face interaction with therespondents.200questionnaires were distributed and160were collected successfullywhich141of them were valid. This result met the standard of survey collection. The18assumptions were tested with the valid survey responds and all of them weretested positive. The results showed that organizational learning and its dimensionshave positive effects on entrepreneurial performance and dynamic capabilities;dynamic capabilities and its dimensions have positive effects on entrepreneurialperformance. Dynamic capabilities play an intermediary role between organizationallearning and entrepreneurial performance. Finally, the research result of this thesis is discussed. It emphasized the theatricaland practical significance of the study. Furthermore, this thesis also indicated thelimitations and deficiencies of this study.
