With the development of globalization economic and increase of inter-enterprise collaboration level, the structure and operations of supply chain are becoming more and more complex and challenging. It is a very important issue to study on how to lower supply chain cost and reduce supply chain response time on the basic of ensuring supply chain at a certain service level in the perspective of the whole supply chain. And supply chain configuration problem refers to further optimization of supply chain by choosing one mode from different modes in the supply chain processes and considering supply chain as a whole after the completion of supply chain design. The present research of supply chain configuration only considers demand relations between supply chain processes while caring little about resource and time constraints. However, resource and time constraints are common in practice of supply chain, so in this thesis, supply chain optimal configuration (SCOC) model whose objective function is shortest supply chain response time, with resource,time and service level constraints is established.In this thesis, supply chain is analyzed qualitatively based on system and integrated principles. Then supply chain optimal configuration (SCOC) model is established by introducing the method of project scheduling and solved by an improved Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm. At last, this improved DE’s feasibility is verified through a case study of a simplified personal computer supply chain.Firstly, supply chain is considered as a system because the elements of the supply chain are coordinative, orderly and open and the essence of supply chain configuration is a tradeoff between supply chain response time and cost. SCOC model is analyzed and established by transfer supply chain network into a network structure of the project through the use of project scheduling optimization principle.Secondly, SCOC model in which shortest supply chain response time is considered as the objective function is established. In order to make sure that the supply chain is on a certain level to meet customer demand and describe the actual problem more accurately, resource, time and service level constraints are taken into account to improve the overall supply chain optimization and the efficiency of supply chain.Finally, Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm for solving SCOC model is designed and verified by empirical analysis. SCOC model is solved by an improved Differential Evolution algorithm in which penalty function and parameters adaptive strategy is introduced to improve the speed and efficiency of DE. The feasibility and effectiveness of the algorithm are verified through a case study of a simplified personal computer supply chain.This thesis focuses on the analysis of the constraints of the supply chain configuration so that SCOC model can describe supply chain operation practice more accurately and provide some new directions and ideas in the theoretical study of the supply chain configuration. SCOC model is solved by improved DE by introducing the principle of scheduling optimization and this solution and results can provide an effective decision-making method for supply chain management in practice.
