With the development of advanced manufacturing, concurrent engineering, projectmanagement and computer technology, how to apply these methods and techniques tooptimize product development process and schedule its progress has become a key problemfor the enterprise to enhance its ability to respond market quickly and to improve its productdevelopment efficiency and business innovation ability.This paper does research on the new product development process based on ConcurrentEngineering. It aims to optimize the product development process and schedule thedevelopment progress. The paper is divided into three parts:Analysis the product development process and decompose it into a certain number oftasks that is in moderate size. Propose the principle we need follow to put all the tasks intoseveral groups and use genetic algorithm to archieve this. Assess the criticality of thetaskgroup and the overall ability of the product development team. Then base the result toassign the taskgroup to the appropriate product development team.Apply DSM model to optimize product development processes and arrange the processproperly to reduce the rework due to the information feedback. Do research on thedevelopment time that is extended and shorten by the task order overlaping and task feedbackoverlaping. Define the time outputting factor matrix, time inputting factor matrix, rework riskmatrix and rework strength matrix. Use those four matrixes to collect data and schedule theprogress of product development.Use project management method in product development process. Research how to dodynamic control and adjustment for the product development according to the developmentschedule. Study the principle and frame of progress management system to ensure the projectcompleted on time.
