With the fiercer and fiercer competition in telecommunications industries and many challenges such as technological change, network change, business change and market change, the major telecommunications carriers lower the price greatly and gain less and less profit. So business transformation is the only way to keep the enterprises developing healthily instead of using the existing basic business. Tone business is one of the typical businesses in the period of business transformation and service transformation of China Telecom which is quite different from traditional telecommunications business in business model and business development strategy. The questions such as how to determine the best business model and how to determine business development strategy are worthy of our exploration. Based on this background, in this paper we research the development direction and strategy of tone business during the rapid development period of internet and e-commerce after choosing the development history and business model of tone business as our object.In the perspective of information value request of the customers around the chain, the paper determines the business model of tone business by analyzing the needs of customers around the chain and value chain. The paper also analyzes the development environment and advantages and disadvantages of tone business by using PEST analysis and SWOT analysis. In the end, the paper proposes the business development direction and strategy of tone business in order to help the tone business go into the e-commerce area in the internet era.
