Tour of Tibet becoming a new fashion and the regional tourism integration process has underlined the status and functions of Lhasa as a tourist center of Tibet. At the same time, Lhasa, as the political, economic and cultural center of Tibet, also has the duty to take on the construction of Tibet to be the world’s important tourist destination, which is same with Lhasa’s city image goal-" a international tourism City of plateau and the ethnic characteristics ".But due to geographical and cultural differences, there is serious information asymmetry between Lhasa and outsiders(whether they are people from domestic or foreigners), so tourist need more information about Lhasa than other tourism cities. With the popularity of Internet, more and more tourists tend to get tour information on Internet. But as we know, the current level of tourist information services in Lhasa is less encouraging which has seriously hindered the development of tourism in Lhasa. Network-based tourism information services, as an important symbol of modernization and internationalization, can be a support system of promotion and operation to the tourism destination. So the travel e-commerce is a strategic choice to enhance tourism in Lhasa, an important means to improve Lhasa’s core competitiveness in tourism and also the inherence request of construction of Lhasa to be an international tourist city. Through developing tourism e-commerce, we can provide a vividly image of Lhasa to the multitude; and transform the potential tourism resources into dominance tourism resources. Then the improving availability of tourist information of Lhasa and the possibility of arranging tours will attract more foreign and domestic tourists. Therefore, the development of e-commerce in Lhasa tourism is necessary, and also has practical significance.The structural framework and content of this paper are as follows:Chapter One:Introduction. It includes the background and significance of this research, literature review, and paper structure, research methods.ChapterⅡ:Theoretical Analysis. Explain tourism-related e-commerce theory, which contains the definition of tourism e-commerce, characteristics, classification, advantages of the e-commerce implementation to tourism.ChapterⅢ:Give a brief overview of e-commerce development in the field of tourism, including stages of Tourism E-business development in China and the status quo of Tourism E-business development.ChapterⅣ:Overview of the development of Lhasa’s tourism industry.The first part of this chapter introduces the tourism resources of Lhasa; the second part analyzes the development of Lhasa’s tourism industry; the third part gives a further analysis about the tourism markets in Lhasa.ChapterⅤ:Phenomenon analysis and recommendations. In this chapter, there are three parts. The first part provides a SWOT analysis of Lhasa Tourism e-commerce development; the second part have something to do with a survey about the development of Lhasa Tourism electronic commerce which is conducted by way of questionnaire and online; the third part points out the problems that exist in the development of Lhasa tourism e-commerce, and gives proposals to solve these problems. An innovative suggestion is given that Lhasa, in particular, should establish a tourism destination marketing network (DMS).Chapter VI:Design ideas and strategies about constructing of Lhasa tourism destination marketing network. Based on Chapter V’s "establishment of the Lhasa tourism destination marketing network" proposal, this chapter introduces some design ideas and strategies. This chapter firstly points out the objective and significance of the establishment of the marketing network; then presents the marketing Web site design ideas and solutions; finally, introduces development strategies of the tourism marketing Web sites.Chapter VII:conclusions, main contributions of this paper, and future research prospects.This paper has the following innovations:(1)As there are few literary works related to the development of Lhasa tourism e-commerce.So the subject of this paper involve an element of novelty and has practical significance. This paper can fill out the blank of this field to a certain extent.(2) By introducing domestic and foreign ideas about the development of tourism e-commerce, this paper provides important references for the development of Lhasa tourism e-commerce.(3)Through fieldwork, we got a better understanding of consumer and tourism service providers’demand about tourism e-commerce, and could plan a destination marketing Web site in Lhasa that is an executable and practical solution.
