The Comprehensive Carrying Capacity Of The Pearl River Delta Cities

The city is emergence with the development of human society, especially the arrival ofindustrial civilization, make the urbanization accelerated; the city has gradually become the mainspace of the human life. The economic activities、natural resources and social activities of humansociety are more and more agglomeration in urban areas, result that more crowded urbanpopulation,the resources and the environment withstand more and more pressure, thus makingthe contradictions between the economy, society, resources and the environment become moreand more frequently, and how to coordinate the relationship effectively and make the city paththe way of sustainable development has important guiding significance of currently high gear theprocess of urbanization.This essay chooses the Pearl River Delta which the proportion of urban population is one ofthe highest of China as the object of our study, combined with the urban economic theory andsustainable development theory, confirmed the basic connotation and structural framework of thecity comprehensive carrying capacity.And contact the actual situation of the Pearl River Deltaregion,we broken down the comprehensive carrying capacity into the economy carryingcapacity, social carrying capacity and resources environmental carrying capacity, and furtherestablish the various elements of the index system of the bearing capacity, then using thecoefficient of variation method to measure the weights of various index. On this basis, we usethe linear weighted sum of model to build the city’s comprehensive carrying capacity formula tocalculate the Pearl River Delta Cities bearing capacity of the various elements and the city’scomprehensive carrying capacity.The results show that:(1) cities in the Pearl River Delta has a strong comparativeadvantage in the economic carrying capacity, in the social carrying capacity upgrade faster, theresources and environment carrying capacity is becoming constrained to constraint the furtherdevelopment of the Pearl River Delta cities;(2) at the same time,the results also show that urbaneconomic carrying capacity and social carrying capacity have a certain extent with the size of thecity, the resources and environment carrying capacity has no obvious relationship with the size ofthe city;(3) in addition, the bearing capacity of the three sub-elements that constitute the city’scomprehensive bearing capacity, the traditional resources and environment carrying capacityaccounted for the comprehensive carrying capacity of the weight has a further downward trend, thus the weight of economic and social bearing capacity is increasing.Finally, to calculate the data analysis,we given our policy recommendations from economy,resources, environment, society and the government’s role to improve the bearing capacity of thecity, and provide a guiding direction for improvement bearing capacity and urban sustainableeconomic development of the Pearl River Delta region cities...
