Research On The Coherence Between Advanced Manufacturing And Modern Services In Guangdong Province

Economic crisis in2008made a tremendous impact on export-oriented manufacturingindustry in Guangdong. The traditional developing pattern could hardly keep on. In particular,the transformation of economic structure and development mode in the Pearl River Delta Regionwas just in the key time during this period. It is hard for the manufacturing industry in the PearlRiver Delta Region to develop further. However, there also exists numerous opportunities. In thebeginning of2009, the National Development and Reform Commission released the Plan for theReform and Development of the Pearl River Delta (2008-2020years).It is clearly proposed inthis plan that the Pearl River Delta Region should construct its modern industrial system andspeed its advanced manufacturing industry up. Modern services have strong industry relevance，so it is closely linked with the manufacturing and play an important role in the transformationand upgrading of manufacturing. Therefore, in order to understand and use the law of industrialdevelopment to promote the development of advanced manufacturing, it is necessary to study therelationship between advanced manufacturing and modern services.Based on two-way interactions perspective, this paper starts from the theoretical layer andempirical layer. On theoretical level, based on the current industry convergence theory, we try toestablish a dynamic industrial integration system, under which exist four basic form, proving thatadvanced manufacturing has an actual interaction with modern services; on empirical level, byanalyzing the current situation on both industries, we use mathematical methods to show theconvergence degree through industry correlation、interaction degree、coordination degree. Theindex results show that, modern services in Guangdong has a feature of “high added value, butlow industrial promotion”, it’s undergoing a transition from middle need to final need; theinteraction between advanced manufacturing and modern services is expected to be strengthened;the latter shows a more dependency on the former. Finally, the paper uses the super-efficiencyDEA grey relation analysis to measure what factors affect the convergence between advancedmanufacturing and modern services in Guangdong, and the opening of service、 humanresources、R&D and level of marketization show great importance to the convergence betweenadvanced manufacturing and modern services in Guangdong, and then provides some advice.
