The retail industry can best embody the country’s prosperity and recession. It is amicrocosm of all economic activity in a country. On the condition of China’s open-doorpolicy environment, foreign retailers have been pouring into the Chinese market. Comparedwith foreign businesses, China’s retail businesses, especially of supermarket retail business,there are also lacks of management experience, financial strength, IT and other deficiencies,the development speed relatively slow, and the stamina is obviously insufficient. As the worldintegration process has been accelerating, and China’s economy comprehensive integrationinto the world economy. The competition between countries increasingly reflected in thecompetition between the enterprises, and the competition between the enterprises are the corecompetitiveness show. Therefore, China’s hypermarkets want to compete with the strongforeign-funded enterprises, and achieve for a long-term survival and development, we mustcorrectly realize and evaluate our core competitiveness, and to find the starting point forfurther cultivate and enhance our core competitiveness.This paper researched the most representative of hypermarkets retail industry. First, Onthe basis of reviewing the concept and characteristics of the core competitiveness ofenterprises, defined the concept of the core competitiveness in retail enterprises; then analysisof the development status of China’s supermarket retail business and the gap withforeign-funded enterprises, based on the core competence theory, and combined with theexisting research results, analyzed the elements of core competitiveness in hypermarket retailbusiness. Further build the evaluation system of hypermarket retail enterprise.Appliedanalytic hierarchy process (AHP) and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to evaluate thecore competitiveness in hypermarket retail enterprise, and established the corecompetitiveness evaluation model. Finally, take S enterprise as an example to verify if theevaluation model is reasonable and feasible. Then put forward the countermeasures andsuggestions to enhance the core competitiveness of S enterprises. So it has certain reference value for enhance and cultivate the core competitiveness of China’s supermarket retailenterprises.
