The rapid development of manufacturing technology has brought the opportunityto the manufacturing. As a complex production organization, discrete manufacturingfaces enormous challenges in the production. Using advanced manufacturingtechnologies and management methods to improve the production capacity of discretemanufacturing has become an important mean of enhancing rapid response to marketcapacity and competitiveness of enterprise. Production capacity balance problem isrelated to the enterprise production efficiency. It has become the focus of the discretemanufacturing enterprise. Balance and optimization of the production capacity is ofgreat significance, and can reach the purpose of a balanced production, improving theequipment utilization, increasing the rate of output and ensuring the product delivery.In connection with the problem of unbalanced production capacity in the discretemanufacturing system, the topic studies on the production capacity balance andoptimization for a discrete manufacturing enterprise using the bottleneck identificationand DBR control methods in the theory of constraints. First, the theory of constraintsand the related theories of production capacity and calculation methods are studied.The production capacity accounting method of the discrete manufacturing enterprise isobtained. The attentions made to expand capacity are analyzed. Then combined withthe concept of bottleneck resources, the identification method of the bottleneckcapacity is introduced. Through the study of balance method and the principle ofproduction capacity, the production capacity balance model by-period considering theproduction preparation time and the liberalization coefficient is established, and aheuristic adjustment algorithm is designed. Then the model is solved, and the capacitybalance optimization scheme is obtained. Finally, actual investigation and research isdone according to a company’s ascension equipment factory. The basic information iscollected, including business processes, process technology, equipment capacity, orders and so on. The analysis of the status of the ascension equipment productioncapacity is made. The existing production capacity is balanced and optimized using thecapacity balance model and algorithm, and the optimization results is evaluated. Thisarticle also uses the eM-Plant software for the establishment of production systemsimulation modeling. The product manufacturing process and equipment usingsituation is analyzed. The bottleneck equipment is found out and it is also optimized.Then the production capacity is balanced and the equipment load rate is reduced andthe correctness of the theoretical model is verified.The result of this paper is not only broadens the application of the theory ofconstraints, but also provides a certain theoretical approach for the equilibriumallocation and adjustment of the production capacity for the discrete manufacturingenterprise production capacity.
