Acting as the Forth Media after newspaper broadcast and television, internet hasbeen accepted and utilized by the public more and more often. It plays a huge andirreplaceable role in social production\economy and entertainment. Information emergingin great quantity, the speed of spreading rising exponentially and the cost of broadcastreducing greatly bring people lots of convenience, coupled with a number of false andharmful information at the meantime. The problems caused by the emergency of a greatnumber of junk information and the breeding of rumors become increasingly obvious andcan not be ignored. With the government’s strengthening supervision and guidance, theautomatic-depuration function of internet has not been given enough research andattention. I begin with the typical case of the automatic-deputation function of internet inthis paper, and then analyse the background and the causation of rumors on the internet,put the stress on the formation mechanism and development countermeasures. From theviews of government netizen and mass media, together with current situation, I putforward my opinion and proposals.
