Media Resources Research Of Science And Technology Communication In Guangdong Province

Communication of science and technology plays an important role in socio-economicdevelopment and people’s daily lives. In the information era, the Government explains thepolicies on science and technology to the public, popularize scientific and technicalknowledge through the media; The public learn scientific and technical knowledge, grasp thescientific method, and constantly improve their science attainment in their daily lives throughthe media, all kinds of media are the main ways that the public get information. The media isthe bridge between the government and the public and a platform for science and technologycommunication, which plays an important role in the process of science and technologycommunication. However, the current status quo of science and technology communication inGuangdong Province is bad, and even in China. Most of the media did not play the role theyshould play in the process of science and technology communication. Therefore, we shouldstudy the relations between the media development and the communication of science andtechnology, fully play the role of the media resources in the dissemination of science andtechnology, and make better results. This has realistic meanings.This dissertation first discussed the concept of science and technology communication,media resources and the relations between them, and then described the present situation ofscience and technology communication, media resources in Guangdong province around thetwo core concepts. The study found that Guangdong province is rich in media resources, but avery small proportion for science and technology communication. After analyzing severaltypical medium’s performances on science and technology communication, the author foundthey are not satisfactory. On the basis of above analysis, the author discussed the problems inscience and technology communication, media resources utilization of Guangdong provincefrom four aspects: the philosophy, the investment, the contents and the means of science andtechnology communication, and put forward some suggestions. The author thinks that: atpresent, both the government and all kinds of media, they have deviations in understandingthe communication of science and technology, the investment is not enough, lack of attentionto the communication of science and technology; The information of science and technology which all kinds of media offer is insufficient, and the media not fully play their proper role inthe concrete operation process. In the future work, the government and various media shouldchange ideas, follow the correct philosophy of science and technology, invest more on thescience and technology communication; the media should learn from the good examples athome and abroad, improve the quality of news reports on science and technology, improveeffect of science and technology communication in the process of operation.
