| With the rise of Web2.0, web-based online examination systems are in large numbers. High costs for development, maintenance difficulties and poor support for multimedia, however, have constrained the development of it. With cloud computing, resources are allocated on demand and users needn’t care about the underlying resources. Besides, powerful computing ability is more available for users. These advantages make cloud computing more and more recognized by the industry.Firstly, this thesis introduces the definition and characteristics of cloud computing, as well as the three commercial service models. Although cloud computing technology is still in the early stages, there is no doubt that it’s sweeping over the world in an overwhelming position. Great advantages make it very suitable for solving problems encountered by the current online examination systems.This thesis presents a customizable examination system based on the Web, using cloud computing technologies and supporting multimedia. The system is built upon a PaaS platform, offering SaaS services by subscribing sub examination systems, in order to get quick system generation and convenient system maintenance. This thesis focuses on the design and implementation of the examination system.According to the overall objective of the online examination system, requirement analysis is presented at first. Cloud computing and multimedia technologies are the two key technology points. Thesis gives specific technical solutions for them. The overall design of system comes after that, including the division of functional modules and design of system architecture design. Then the specific design of the examination system and its testing report are presented. Finally, thesis summarizes the author’s work and points out the following work. |
