Scientific literature is the fruit of human being’s scientific and technological activities. It is a treasure of knowledge and an essential resource for scientific and technological progress as well as economic development. A survey of data reveals scientific literature contributes to one-third of the full value created by scientific research. Since founded in1949, China has attached great importance to collecting and sharing scientific literature. A variety of archives and libraries have been established from national to provincial and municipal levels. With the continuous development of computer and network technology, digitization and networking have become one of the main ways of scientific literature management. In2004, the Ministry of Science and Technology issued "National Science and Technology Infrastructure Platform Construction Program2004-2010" which advocated a constant improvement of scientific literature database, a document platform that would promote mutual learning, upgrading and sharing, and higher overall requirement for basic support for scientific progress and economic development. Scientific literature management system is a new generation platform that conforms to the latest digital and network development trends. On the one hand, it enables a transformation of traditional resources to digitalized resources. On the other hand, it helps to realize a transition of service model from position service to network service.This thesis aims at a study on the web-based service system for scientific literature, based on the analysis of the demand for and processes of the system. First, the author indicates a demand for the system which is illustrated by flow charts and diagrams. Secondly, a detailed design of the web-based service system is displayed. The design includes an introduction to different modules, an overall design sketch and the realization of various modules. Then the author analyzes and discusses the functions and realization of the three core modules, i.e. Unified User Identity Authentication Module, Unified User Accounting Management Module and Scientific Literature Analysis Module. Based on Scientific Literature Analysis Module, a data analysis is conducted as per the theories of Data Mining and Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation.In summary, this thesis centers upon a design of comprehensive literature processing and service system which supports cross-platform, distributed, heterogeneous database environment, through the exploration of literature resources and secondary processing, and using techniques such as China’s advanced WEB database, distributed database processing and data pushing, etc.
