Embedded system is a highly integrated, dedicated computer system designed for applications, embedded system is a computer system with a specific function, and it combines with communication and network technology, which greatly enhance the device’s flexibility and intelligence of network and communication. With the continuous development of information technology and user demand, embedded system gradually gets into the various aspects of social production, and its applications are increasingly widespread. On this basis, the use of embedded systems for image processing, will undoubtedly greatly enhance communication, interaction, data processing ability of the image processing system, to expand the range of applications of the image processing technology and its ability to adapt to different environments and requirementsThe quality of workpiece surface is an important indicator for the evaluation of the quality of the workpiece, and the research and detection of surface quality is a very important research direction for the field of production and processing. The image processing technology is an effective means to achieve surface quality detection.The work of thesis integrates the embedded system platform with image processing, implements in ARM9-S3C2440development platform. Capture video images by CMOS camera, transplant OpenCV to embedded development platform, and process the resulting image. The specific content of the work is as follows:(1) Analysis of the current situations and future development trends of the image detection system and embedded system, explain details of the basic principles of embedded system, propose hardware and software selection of embedded image processing development platform and design solution.(2) Build ARM-based development platform and migrate Qt, OpenCV to set up development environment, explain details of process of Video4Linux image acquisition. Design and transplant OV9650driver according to underlying hardware module of development environment.(3) Propose an improved Canny algorithm, use digital image processing techniques, such as image filtering, morphological operations, image edge detection method to extract the edge information of the grinding surface, compare the value of pixels of the image edge information to achieve the identification of defective workpiece.(4) Use Qt Creator2.0.1software to develop software of embedded image detection system of grinding surface quality. Achieve the image acquisition, processing functions to the grinding surface. Test system software, and obtain good results.
