With the changing of the construction of GPRS network, mobile services have been rapidly developed. At the same time user’s complaints have continued to increase in business development. In order to protect the security of mobile Internet and improve the efficiency of data services complaint handling, building a data traffic monitoring and analysis system is urgently needed. That’s need to save the source data of information. The source stream is a large amount of data, compression processing is needed. Packet header is of high similarity, a very high percentage of the data can be compressed out after a reasonable design. In this paper, a header compression algorithm for the mobile Internet transport protocol is proposed.In the paper I introduce the development of header compression techniques and analysis of several typical header compression technologis first. Subsequently introduce mobile Internet transport protocols, do some compression feasibility validation about these protocols, and proposed the compression algorithm GHC (GPRS Header Compression) for such transfer protocols. Next elaborate the selected compression field, encoding and compressed header format of GHC algorithm, and then describes the implementation of the algorithm, analysis works and processes of each module. Finally, do some experiments about this algorithm, test compression rate and compression efficiency, compare to VJHC, zlib and other compression technologies, and then analyze the advantages and limitations of the GHC algorithm.
