With the rapid development of mobile communication network, the number of mobile users and telephone traffic is growing, which results in a higher requirement for configuration of network element capability, use of network resources and safe operation of mobile network. MSC Pool technology is an inevitable trend of core network evolution, which has an advantage of rational sharing, signaling load reduction and network security guarantee. MGW disaster recovery technology combines with the MSC Pool deployment to achieve disaster recovery of MSC Server and MGW, which further improves safety and quality of the network.This paper studies the optimization of the MGW selection in MGW disaster recovery network on MSC Pool architecture, which focus on the selection policy of the user plane media gateway. The research is based on the test project of MGW disaster recovery and IP transformation of related equipment conducted in China Unicom laboratory during my internship in Design Institute of China Unicom.First, combining exciting network demands with network research, the paper determines the specific networking architecture for the issue of MGW selection optimization, in which the NNSF function is realized by BSC/RNC or MGW and all the Mc interface interconnected. Second the specific networking architecture is built in the laboratory and a test specification for the research is draw up. Third, a related test is implemented whose main purpose is to research MGW selection optimization capability and scheme of master manufacturers’devices in existing network. Through analysis of realization mechanism and comparison of various schemes, the author finally proposes the improved scheme of MGW selection optimization in MGW disaster recovery network on MSC Pool architecture. The intra-calling in the improved scheme inherit the simultaneous selection on calling side and called side in the exciting scheme. The inter-calling in the improved scheme proposes a method with private parameter for MGWGROUP, The proposed scheme improves the existing scheme and solves the problems of the existing scheme.
