Zigbee technology, a new kind of short distance and low power consumptionwireless technology, is the first selection of wireless sensor network technology. Itplays an important role in environmental monitoring, medical care, home automationand other fields. Bluetooth is a relatively mature short-range wireless technology,which has been widely used in all kinds of mobile terminals to realize informationexchange wirelessly. It will be of great significance if we get Zigbee and Bluetoothtogether. One hand, it is better for expanding the applications of Bluetooth technology.On the other hand, what is more important is that it can promote the development ofthe new Zigbee technology.With the application of health care issues, this paperproposed the design of wireless gateway recorder which is based on Zigbee andBluetooth technology. And centered on wireless gateway recorder, a physiologicalmonitoring system has been set up in this paper.The system can be divided into three parts: Zigbee physiological data acquisitionnodes, wireless gateway recorder and PC. As the hinge of the system, the wirelessgateway recorder is built to connect Zigbee network and Bluetooth piconet. And withthe Micro SD card on the wireless gateway recorder, it can also realize the sortedstoringof data. Patient`s physiological parameters which are acquired by Zigbeephysiological data acquisition nodes can be sent to the remote PC through the twokinds of networks, then medical workers see the signals on the PC screen in real timeand react quickly.In this paper, both hardware and software are designed. As for hardware, thewireless gateway recorder consists of Zigbee module which is realized by CC2530chip, Bluetooth module by BlueCore4, Micro SD card on the Zigbee module andother peripheral circuits such as power management circuit, RF circuit and so on. Inaddition, we use CC2530chip, a really SOC Zigbee solution system from TI company, to build Zigbee physiological data acquisition nodes of the system.As for software, on the base of TI Zigbee protocol stack, we designed someapplication programs, which include setting up the Zigbee star network, combiningZigbee protocol and Bluetooth protocol and embedding into the MCU, implementingreading and writing the Micro SD card and implanting FAT32file system. In the end,a user interface program on PC based on LabVIEW has been built to realize real-timedisplay and storage of physiological data and waveform, and control and managementof Zigbee physiological data acquisition nodes.When the project is completed, the whole system is tested with ECG acquisitionnode, blood oxygen node and thermometer node. Results show that the system canmonitoring, transmitting and storing a variety of physiological parameters at the sametime. The design has achieved expectation of performance and has a certain practicalvalue.
