Since1990s the handheld devices such as mobile phones and portable digital terminals became popular around the world with a few years, now more and more people begin to use them. Also the user interface from the original physical keys type and single-color screen to colorful screen, half-touch colorful screen and now developed to the all-touch screen. Today not only the lifestyle became fast and the application program was diversified and complicated, but also the design of the handheld device was not only stay on the hardware’s development and appearance’s improvement, they optimized user interface in the limited touch screen, enhanced user experience and brought users the simple, convenient, fast and funny interaction.In the design of the user interface, the research on user’s psychology and behavior is the base to analyze the users’ interaction. When using the interface, the complication of the behavior process can reflect the understandability, ease of use and efficiency of the interface, and the psychological process can tell designers what the users wanted. So, to build a human-computer interaction model can help designers better a better understanding of the interaction between the user and the system. Since the GOMS was put forward and developed, it was widely used in building the interaction model to evaluate the complication of the uses’ goal and actions in the man-machine system. G, O, M, S is respectively corresponding to the Goals, Operators, Methods and Selection Rules, in which also given users four fundamental operations namely Keystroke (K), Point (P), Homing (H), Mental preparation (M) and a set of typical time for these behaviors. In this way the designers can predict a skilled user’s basic operation in a given behavior and the time for one particular activity, thus to evaluate whether the interface give the users interaction experience. This study is going to import the GOMS into the handset man-machine interactive interface. To take the Apple IOS system’s call interface for example, and then through the quantitative analysis method to compositing the cognitive psychology with the user behavior model study, to analyze and quantify the user use several different IOS phone interface interaction in the process of psychological and behavior, guided by GOMS designed an improved interface, compared the several analyzed results of prediction, evaluated by means of empirical experiment again, after all the above then determine the accuracy of this exploratory study. In the end of the thesis, under the guidance of GOMS, it elaborated the principles and methods which the design of handheld devices’ interactive interface should follow. That is the interface should try to be simplified and suit the users’ expectations, reduce the visual interference and behavior complication, improve efficiency, bring a good user experience and give better expression of interaction design concept with the user-centered.
