The individual combat system is spurred by information warfare. For a tacticalsquad that need to operate corporately, if each man of the squad is able to sensereal-time information of the team, fighting situation, the enemy number etc., thatwill greatly enhance our group operational capabilities, inside this the real-timeaccess to the specific location of each person is the most basic and most vitaltactical information. The use of wireless sensor network(WSN) positioningtechnology can achieve this functionality; wireless sensor network positioningtechnology includes its own positioning technology and target positioningtechnology in the network area. However, the result of this kind of positioningtechnology is a relative position one, only including the relative coordinateposition information in the network; it can’t obtain the absolute locationinformation of the node above the network; so this has brought problems to command the tactical squad, which is in need of a global monitoring. Thisproject exactly utilizes the advantages of WSN self-organization and positioningtechnology, combined with a GPS receiver, realizes regional geographicpositioning in the area without GPS signal or GPS disturbed, such asunderground bunkers fighting area or electromagnetic interference battlefieldarea; a WSN station with GPS away from sources of interference receives thestation location information, then through wireless sensor network each node inthe network can get location information above area.The dissertation first describes the principles, techniques and methods of ZigBeenode positioning and GPS satellite positioning, focuses on two main points:based on RSSI positioning principle and implementation in ZigBee, as well asthe processing of NMEA0183GGA format outputted by GPS receiver.In order to achieve the envisaged functions, the project selects the TI’sCC2430/31as the positioning node module, first of all it builds a ZigBee wireless network; then uses the CC2431hardware location engine to achieveend node localization meanwhile connects the GPS and ZigBee coordinatormodule in order to obtain the satellite positioning information; finally choosestwo scenarios to test the whole system and the geographic positioning ofthe moving target node. The results of experiments are desired ones.
