With the rapid development of the Internet and the upgrade of computer’s performance, thereis a growing focus on how to make the client more simple by using virtualization technology. Thiskind of technology, especially desktop virtualization, is gradually becoming the focus of currentresearch and application owing to the advantage it has in resource integration and dynamic resourceallocation. However, there are still some problems which affect the user experience in currentvirtual desktop solutions, such as the “start storm” and real-time interactive delay. The factors which affect the virtual desktop user experience are first discussed, and thetransport delay of the real-time interactive data is mainly researched. The paper analyzes theTHINC remote display system, including its architecture and deployment mechanism, andestablishes the experiment environment. After running and testing the system, we found that thetransport delay is obvious in the complex WAN environment. This paper then gives a virtualdesktop solution called RtDesk based on the real-time session transport with a reference of SIPtransmission control method, it uses a carrier-grade real-time channel to transport real-timeinteractive data, and a best-effort channel to transport other data.At last, a prototype is designed and implemented according to RtDesk, and the effect of theuser experience is tested in different bandwidth using the proposed solution. The test result showsthat the prototype can significantly reduce the transport delay of the real-time interactive data, which confirms the feasibility of RtDesk.
