In recent years, with the development of communication system and radio system, the technology for antenna’s miniaturization and multi-frequency becomes more and more important. Because of its low profile, small volume and light weight, mcirostrip antennas have been widely used in many fields. This article mainly studies techniques of the microstrip antenna’s miniaturization and multi-frequency. Firstly, we have analyzed the basic principles of microstrip antenna and the analysis method of the cavity-mode theory. According to the needs, we have designed and simulated two miniaturized microstrip antenna units based on the HFSS software, which are working at the center frequency of1.75GHz and5.25GHz. This antenna units design uses coaxial feed and the dielectric constant of the dielectric-slab is4.5, which can reduce the size of the antenna. The simulation results indicate that the bandwidths of the frequency1.75GHz and5.25GHz can be5.6%and6.8%respectively.Then this paper introduces some theoretical basis and technical methods to figure out the miniaturization and dual-frequency of the antenna in detail. Based on this theory, a dual-band structure with a slot along the non-radiation side has been investigated. According to the theory, we have designed a dual-band microstrip antenna with a bending slot and a U-shaped slot, which can make the high-frequency, be5.25GHz and the low-frequency be1.75GHz by changing the length and width of the slot. We choose the U-shaped antenna after comparing the two antennas parameters. The author analyses the effects of the parameters and make a physical. The measured results and simulation results are basically identical with each other...
