Electronic Made to Measure is a new mode of clothing production in the21st century. EMTM utilizes3D body scanning technology, computer technology and network technology to combine body measure、shape analysis、style choice、clothing design、clothing order、clothing production together. It has realized the convenient and swift industry chain. It has become the research focus and hotspot in the field of academe and business and the main means of garment producing. A serial of virtual body standard templates are produced by gathering plenty of samples and a certain template can be selected based on the individual figure, thus the personal model fitting his/her figure is formed. Finally suitable dress patterns that meet the individual’s special demand will be produced, based on which, a serial of dress styles can be designed. eMTM system produces and customs garments centering completely on customers so as to meet customers’ personal requirements and make it possible to custom garments in large number, thus greatly increases the efficiency of garment production and decrease the product cycle of its products.Human body clothing mannequin modeling plays a very important role in the cloth producing and is the most important key technology in the early stage of eMTM project. Because the accuracy of the human body clothing mannequin model will have a direct impact on the generation of the3D prototype clothing piece, it is an important guarantee to meet the customers’ needs of cloth fitness. Early research focused on standard shape body modeling, it ignored the growing percentage of special shape person among people, and lacked of relevant research of special shape body clothing mannequin modeling. Thus, launching the research of popular body shape oriented human body clothing mannequin modeling and establishing the system will play a positive role in guiding and helping for the digitized development of garment enterprises in our nation.This paper regards the project called "The key technologies research of Electronic Made to Measure" cooperated by China and Europe as the background of studying, which is supported by Shanghai Science and Technology Commission. The paper mainly puts the eyes on the popular body shape oriented human body modeling and introduced the production process and system structure of the universal human body clothing mannequin modeling. The purpose of this paper is attempt to propose a general solution for both standard and special shape body clothing mannequin modeling, Firstly, we analyze the existing more than700standard and nonstandard3D scan data of the human bodies, we establish a universal human body template database through dividing the parts of human body. Secondly, through automatically extracting individual’s critical section data of human shape features, the system use the database template matching algorithm to extract similar parts and fit curve in the help of interpolation to generate the human body model. Finally, we use the theory and technique of gray fuzzy evaluation, through establishing the evaluation index system, we evaluate the generation of virtual clothing mannequin for universal human body. The experiment results shows that our method has a significant improvement on speed and accuracy in establishment of both a standard size and non-standard size body, and also is suitable for mass production of customize human body model, meanwhile lay the foundation for the widespread use of eMTM.
