Electronic product upgrades quickly with a flat, networked, intelligent, green trend obviously. Enhanced product design capabilities are undoubtedly to reduce the production cost of the OEM business, improve product quality fundamentally, and enhance the competitiveness of enterprises.Through the use of Six Sigma and project management theory and tools, combined with practical work in the SMT new product design projects, in accordance with the five steps in the design process of Six Sigma, identify opportunities, define their needs, conceptual design, optimization of design and verification, to finish the research and analysis of SMT new product design.This article applies project management knowledge and tools to define the project organizational structure, major milestones, work breakdown structure, project schedule to ensure project quality. Combine Quality Function Deployment (QFD) tools and KANO model to transfer customer needs to SMT engineering indicators of new product design, and decide to apply the industry’s smallest01005parts on the new product. Failure Mode and Effects Analysis(FMEA) initially screen the design parameters out of01005parts PCB design and process design that may affect the welding performance, and base on this, have a four-factor2-level experimental design, using Minitab software for test design data analysis, the optimized PCB design size. Finally, the trial validation to ensure the best design, and this will provides a systematic solution for the PCB PAD design of the new parts in future SMT new product design projects.
