With the increasing trend of enrollment in colleges around China ever since late1990s, the number of students not graduated rises every year. Under this particularcircumstance, kinds of data information related to college students grow exponentially, which turns out to be a new challenge for most of the colleges focusing on topeducation, especially when respected to student management. And this can be provedfrom the reality that manual or semi-automatic means fall short to meet the requirementof daily management, let alone following tasks, such as querying, classifying subtotalsand statistical analysis. In the meanwhile, communication and computer technologyhave provided sufficient support for B/S computing paradigm, and a number ofinformation systems, all-purpose or dedicated, get accepted by several corporations andinstitutions of influential, which makes it a significant approach to office automationand enterprise informationization. Therefore, taking advantage of modern informationtechnology, it is of high applied value to design and implement a full-automatic,workflow-based and browser/server based student management system, and it is alsopracticable.Taking the basic problem of information management, as well as the applicationpractice of student management in Shanghai Dianji University in mind, this thesispresents the design and implementation of Shanghai Dianji University studentmanagement system in detail. Firstly, it introduces some background knowledge andtechnology of requisite, e.g. United Modeling Language (UML),.NET framework, C#,SQL Server and work flow, and then analysis the special requirements related to thedesign and development of this management system from two aspects, i.e. function andperformance; what follows is the detailed analysis from the static and dynamic views, including general design, specific design and database design, and it is presented withfigures by united modeling language tools, including use case figure, class figure, activity figure, time figure and collaborative figure; finally, it gives the developmentdebugging via Visual Studio.NET2008and SQL Server2008on the spot.During the design and development of this management system, we take full advantage of the analytical procedure and design philosophy, which is scientific, structured and normalized from software engineering, especially united modelinglanguage. And these advanced ideas do facilitate the process to be reasonable andorganized, from demand analysis to system test, and it also shows the directive role ofimportant which is played by software engineering in system development with livecase. Under the support of Shanghai Dianji University digitalized campus network, thisthesis promote the renovation of student management in Shanghai Dianji Universityinto more scientific, organized and efficient, cutting the price down, raising themanaging efficiency, and this system is well accepted by governors, teachers andstudents.
