Mobile phones have increasingly become a necessity for life with strongportability and high penetration. With the emergence of the mobile operating system, itbecomes extremely easy for a variety of business or entertainment softwareapplications to install and run on mobile phones. The current PC or WEB basedconference room management systems have already been well-developed; but theinformation release in the PC based systems is still quite isolated and passive while theWEB based applications are strongly restricted by their dependence on the cablenetwork. Even if they can adopt the wireless network, the portability or penetration ofthe general laptop and handheld computers still cannot be compared with mobilephones. Thus, to develop a mobile phone based conference room management systemwill have great performance improvement and significant meaning in practice. Withthis objective in mind, in this paper I developed a conference room managementsystem based on the mobile phone client.Built on the mobile phone client, the modeling of this system is in full compliancewith software engineering development model steps with reasonable construction ofthe various functional modules that can ensure the applications of the conference roommanagement system. Two JAVA technical systems, J2ME and J2EE, were used in thispaper with adopting the former to develop the mobile client interface and the latter tocreate the corresponding Servlet procedures to receive and split data, and communicatewith the database. Then, the free server TomCat was used to establish the WEB serverfor the forwarding of information; and MySql was adopted to build the database. Aftercompleting the system development, all the functions of the conference roommanagement system can be successfully implemented and operated on the mobilephone.Developed on the mobile phone client, the system can largely improve theinformation immediacy and transparency in the conference room management; set up acomplete set of conference room management mode; and improve the work efficiencywithout any extra equipment needed. It also conforms to the mainstream trend in the mobile device based application development. However, because of the currentmonopolistic mobile phone market and serious compatibility issues between differentmobile phone operating system, the further research and development of this systemwill require a high demand on its cross-platform ability.
