The applications of the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are increasingly wideday by day. One of the most important reason is that the feasible of using WSN inmany application scenarios, such as environment monitor, agriculture monitor,disaster monitor, wild animal monitor, battlefield monitor, traffic transport monitor,medical treatment monitor, industry monitor and so on.WSN is a self-organization network composed of mass of sensors using wirelesscommunication to monitor the parameters of surroundings. Related technologiesinclude wireless communications, networks, self-organization, sensor, distribution,electronic, energy efficient. The reason that the WSN is used widely is that manyapplications are not suitable for human beings to perform, and then it is necessary thatthe information could be transferred to users by sensors in the special region. Thesensor nodes transfer the important information by wireless communication, and theinformation is transferred by the network formed in self-organization way and multihop transmission. This is a simple, reliable and convenient way to transmissioninformation by machine for the safety of human beings, so that the applications ofsome dangerous area can be performed which people can not reach.Furthermore, because of the low power and the cheap of the sensors, WSN can bedeployed easily. Sensor nodes can percept many parameters, such as pressure, light,temperature, humidity, sound, movement, ph, dangerous materials, wind speed andwind direction. All of these can make the application prospects more extensive.Except that mentioned above, the application area of WSN also includes intelligentfamily, goods track, logistics, vehicle service, building monitor as the comprehensiveuse of IPV6. People can achieve much information such as that from old men,children, pets, household appliances by WSN. No other than the above applications, WSN has already been the hottest topic ofresearchers from various organizations, conferences, colleges, and business at homeand abroad. There are many key technologies which need focus on, such as routing,synchronization, localization, energy-saving, self-organization. In these technologies,localization is the most important one which is pivotal and fundamental. Manyapplications could not be performed if there was no localization technology, becausepeople can not deploy the sensor nodes by artificial way in many wicked environmentexcept deployment by planting randomly, and then it necessary to locate the sensornode.In this article, the author introduces the development history, research state,research aim and significance of WSN firstly, and then narrates the development state,scope of application and architecture. Secondly, the author illustrates the fundamentalknowledge of localization, including classification and classical algorithms. Moreover,the author present a new localization algorithm, the localization algorithm based onfitting curve in WSN, which is proposed based on DV-HOP algorithm and weightDV-HOP algorithm. Furthermore, the detailed idea of the algorithm design isexplained. At last, the simulation experiments are performed to compare the newalgorithm and the referenced algorithms. The results of the experiments claim that thenew algorithm has better localization accuracy. And then, the analysis has been givento explain the better accuracy and the energy consumption and the scope ofapplication of the new algorithm has been given. In the end, the work of future isdeclared in brief.
