Thickener is a main equipment for concentrating slurry, widely used in ore-dressing, metallurgy, sewage disposal, etc. Compared with other equipments, it has such advantages as covering an small area, low energy consumption and high efficiency, especially in China metallurgy industry. At present, most metallurgical plants are still in manual operation state, making its concentration and flow fluctuate largely, influencing subsequent production index, and increasing smelting reagent, finally these improve the operation cost. Due to the harsh working conditions and other factors, it is hard to provide accurate mathematical modules of the large thickener in metallurgical plants, so the automatic control has been a difficult problem. From the needs of a large smelting process, based on the analysis of the process, this paper puts out feed forward decoupling control method, and carries out design and development of thickening process control system, according to coupling between controlled variables in the models of thickener.The specific content as follows:1. Through analyzing characteristics and dynamic process, using input and output data modeling and mechanism of the combination of methods, we established a dynamic model of dense process. For this model reflected the coupling between the characteristics of controlled object, this paper developed a decoupling control strategy.2. Combining characteristics and control requirements of thickening process, basing on Honeywell PKS of DCS system, we design and develop thickening process computer control system, including process control system and monitoring system. Among them, the process control system part implements the decoupling control strategy, logical control system part realizes the program of starting and stopping equipments and switching interlock, and monitoring system of the production process achieves monitoring.3. Based on the previous dynamic model, this paper has simulated thickening process computer control system and experimental results show the effectiveness and practicality of this control system.
