With the progress of the times and the continuous improvement of people’s living standards, video surveillance alarm has been becoming an increasingly wide demand for home security. The traditional family video surveillance alarm system can’t win people’s favor by reason of complex structure, unable being online, intricate operation and difficult query and etc.For the actual needs of family video surveillance, combination of detection and application of sensor technology, embedded technology, image processing technology, network technology, WEB server technology, browser application technology and SQlite database technology, we design and implement a network video surveillance alarm system using the WEB server as the core and B/S model as the structure, which has the advantages of easy maintenance, compact in size, low cost, stable performance, intelligent alarming in emergency and so on.In this platform we use Intel Xscale PXA270as the microcontroller chip and embedded Linux as the operating system. Using USB camera to capture the image, and then it will be sent to the WEB server and connected to the Internet through RJ-45interface after been processed. The system will provide real-time video image to the browser when be requested. Through the web browser-related operations we also can control the cradle head, record the video, or replay the video and other operations. With kinds of sensors, it will automaticlly start the video recording function to record the video image information when the sensor detects the alarm information. Customers do not need special client monitoring software, but only the ordinary browser can they access the server. This thesis describes the design and development process of the hardware and software of the whole system in detail. It analyses and elaborates the circuits such as the power module, memory extension module, network communication module, USB interface module, LCD display module, detailed analysis of the embedded Web server and how to build a working principle in system software, how to transplant the SQlite database, how to design the HTML file and the communication of the CGI. In addition, this thesis makes an exposition of how to use the Video4Linux API function to acquire and store video image data, the ways and methods of how to concretely realize the network communication. Further more, the system for the establishment of embedded development environment, the system software platform to build, configuration and transplantation of the bootloader, and the file system of making and transplantation, have carried out detailed analysis and discussion.The system is tested by experiments in the laboratory, it has stable performance and the indicators meet the designing requirements. It achieves the desired results.
