Research And Application Of QoS For Heterogeneous MPLS Networks

In this paper, an end-to-end QoS mechanism has been proposed forheterogeneous MPLS network. In order to improve the end-to-end QoSperformance of the heterogeneous MPLS network without changing the QoSmechanism of each individual network, a policy-based method controlled by aunified management model for all the networks has been used, at the same timeuser-gateway devices have been deployed between every two network of theheterogeneous MPLS network.First, the background and related works of this paper have been introduced.And the basic concepts and realization model of QoS will be presented in thesecond part of this paper, the policy-based QoS management, basic concept andmanagement architecture will also be studied in this section. Based on the deeplyresearching on the networking model, a policy-based end-to-end QoS mechanismhas been proposed for the heterogeneous MPLS network. At the same time, auser-gateway device with the QoS control mechanism has been designed andimplemented based on BCM5645. At last, the QoS control mechanism has beentested in the lab and the experimental results shows that the policy-based QoScontrol mechanism for heterogeneous MPLS network can improve the end-to-endQoS.
